North Central Texas Water Quality

Watershed Protection Planning

The ultimate goal of this collaborative project is to develop watershed protection plans for four of Tarrant Regional Water District's (TRWD) water supply reservoirs. With the watershed protection plans, TRWD can use scientifically based methods not only to identify sources for water quality impairment, but also to evaluate the costs and benefits of addressing these sources. These watershed management plans will produce useful planning tools for TRWD as well as other groups or entities. A successful plan will reduce loadings and accommodate for a growing population and increased urbanization without sacrificing water quality.

Current Watershed Protection Planning efforts throughout Texas sponsored by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, and third parties
